Executive Committee Meeting Minutes
24 April 2008

The regular monthly Executive Committee (EC) meeting of the Allandale Neighborhood Association (ANA) was held on Thursday, April 24, 2008, at 6:30 pm at Ralph Yarborough Library, the President being in the chair and the Secretary being present*.  The minutes of the last EC meeting (March 27,2008) were read and approved as corrected.

Members Present:
Tom Linehan, President; Mary Jean Matus, Secretary; Joe Reynolds, Treasurer; Donna Beth McCormick; Paulette Kern; Laura Slaughter; Dan Jones; George Roman; Margie Gordon; Cynthia Keohane.

Joe Reynolds gave the Treasurer’s report:
Current Balance: $20,939.63
General: $ 8,005.56
Fundraising: $ 6,396.93
Savings: $ 6,537.14

•    Net proceeds from the “Celebrate Allandale - Picnic in the Park” fundraising event were approximately $2,000.00, and approximately 50 new memberships were received (current membership approximately 300).
•    Tom Linehan reported additional (new) advertisers on the website.
•    Tom Linehan reported receiving communication from Chip Harris, President of the Crestview NA, that $1,700 in donations to ANA’s legal fund have been received from residents in the Crestview neighborhood, and that these will be forwarded to the ANA.

Mary Jean Matus moved “that expenses invoiced by Blazier, Christensen, Bigelow & Virr for legal services between 01 Jan 2008 and present be paid by the ANA, and furthermore, that any monies received from Crestview neighbors earmarked for ANA legal expenses be applied to any outstanding balance due.”  The motion was adopted after discussion (9 yeas, 1 nay).

An informative presentation of the upcoming Austin Independent School District (AISD) bond election (Propositions 1, 2, and 3) was given by Julie Cowan.
Mark Price gave the latest update on the White Rock Flooding Project. 

Committee Reports given as follows:
•    Northcross: by Allan McMurtry
Dan Jones moved “that the ANA EC and the Northcross Committee arrange an executive session to meet with attorney Bruce Bigelow to review and clarify legal issues relating to the appeal.”  The motion was unanimously approved after discussion.
•    Zoning and Planning: by Paulette Kern
•    Bylaws: by Dan Jones
•    Beautification:  by Margie Gordon
•    Safety: Donna Beth McCormick

Other business (reports) was given as follows:

•    Tyke and Bike event:  Laura Slaughter

Scheduled for Saturday, May 17th, 9-11am, on Northland Drive, starting at Glad Tidings Church and ending at Amy’s Ice Cream.  Co-sponsored by Nelo’s and Amy’s Ice Cream.
