Public input meeting for PARD’s long range planning - central Austin

submitted by Steven Zettner

The City’s Parks and Recreation Department is holding a public input meeting next Monday for the Central part of the City to gather feedback on priorities.  See info below.  This will cover Allandale, Crestview, Brentwood, Rosedale and other Central Austin neighborhoods.

PARD currently does not prioritize park acquisition based on nearby residential density.  That means any new density added along Burnet or Anderson in the future will not be supported with open space, including pedestrian and bike paths.  Getting the City’s parks policy in line with the City’s land use and transit policies is going to take some effort.  This meeting is a great place to start. If you have time, I hope you will attend.
