Austin Empty Bowl Project

Empty_bowl_project If you were wondering why the crowds on Burnet Rd around Clay Ways Sunday afternoon, it's because people were lining up to participate in the Austin Empty Bowl Project hosted every year at Clay Ways.

It's a wonderful event to raise money for the Austin Capitol Area Food Bank. Judging from the line of people waiting to get in, they raised a pile of money. This is a big event. There are a number of sponsors, donors and volunteers that work together to pull it off.

Those attending pay $15 and get to pick out a ceramic bowl donated to the event by artisans and students around the city. You get to keep the bowl  have it filled with soup donated by one of 30 Austin restaurants. It's a great event. Plan on attending next year. You can read a profile of Clay Ways written by the Allandale Reporter here.
