Brentwood Tavern is Closing October 25th

submitted by Tom Linehan

Brentwood_tavern2 It has been mentioned on the newsgroups and confirmed in today's Austin Chronicle and on statesman.com,  Brentwood Tavern will be closing on the 25th due to their inability to work out agreeable lease terms with the new property owner, Paz Dhody. Dog Almighty has already closed it's location there leaving Lightsey Farms as the remaining tenant on the property. According Lilly Rockwell's article on statesman.com, Lightsey Farms will be moving out soon as well.

To find out more about the planned development, its owner, and the selection process that took place earlier in the year read Steven Zettner's notes taken from one of the neighborhood meetings County Commissioner Sarah Eckhardt held in February. Mr. Dhody, the new owner, is a multimillionaire and entrepreneur who has plans to build a retail center anchored by an Indian restaurant, acoustic music venue, and a gallery featuring the owner’s personal crystals collection.

The Tavern will be missed by Allandale as it has come to be a good informal gathering place. Brentwood Tavern is throwing a big party on the 25th to say goodbye.
